RE: MADISON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S ANNUAL VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE ON DECEMBER 11 from 1-4 pm
The Madison County Historical Society will hold its Victorian Christmas Open House on December 11th from 1 to 4 pm at Cottage Lawn, headquarters of the society, located at 435 Main Street, Oneida. This event is free and open to the public. The period rooms will be festively decorated by Oneida area florist-Balloons and Blossoms and area garden clubs -Green Thumb Garden Club and Sherrill Garden Club.
Holiday music will ring throughout the house all afternoon. The Oneida Chorale Ensemble under the direction of Kim Nethway will perform from 1:00-1:30 pm. Oneida High School Select Choir under the direction of Heather O’Connell will perform from 1:30-2:00 pm. The Whitelaw Ringers of Praise Ensemble will perform from 2:00- 2:30 pm under the director of Esther Jaquin. St. Pat’s Angels under the direction of Catherine Lare will perform from 2:30-3:00. Vernon- Verona- Sherrill String Ensemble and Instrumental Ensemble will perform from 3:00-3:30 pm. Holy Cross Academy Choir under the direction of Roselle Lynch will perform from 3:30- 4:00 pm.
Come visit the society’s latest temporary exhibit, “A Celebration of Needle Arts” that showcases many quilts, embroidery, cross stitch, beaded work, and samplers from the Madison County Historical Society’s collection. Also on display are prayer quilts on loan from the First United Methodist Church in Oneida. The exhibition is on view from October 16 through February 1, 2017.
Visit our gift shop for that special holiday gift such as membership to the historical society, Hop Fest shirts, paper dolls, and historical literature. Raffle tickets for the 50/50 raffle and gift baskets will be sold during the event. All drawings will be held at the end of the event.
