NYS Path Through History

Join us for I LOVE NY’s Path Through History Weekend as the Madison County Historical Society brings local heritage to life with two signature events this October!

Community Picnic & Spring Traditions Mini‑Exhibit

June 20 and 21, 10 am -3 pm @ Cottage Lawn:  Madison County Historical Society invites visitors to slow down, enjoy the season, and experience the traditions that shaped springtime in our region. We will host a Community Picnic on the Cottage Lawn, welcoming families to bring their own blankets and picnic lunches to enjoy on our historic grounds. To make the afternoon even more fun, we will provide a selection of games for all ages.

Inside the barn, guests can explore a Spring Traditions Mini‑Exhibit featuring historic farming and gardening tools from our collection. This small but meaningful display highlights how local families prepared for the growing season, tended their land, and celebrated the arrival of spring throughout Madison County’s past.

Together, the picnic and exhibit offer a relaxed, family‑friendly way to connect with local history while enjoying the beauty of Cottage Lawn in June. It’s an accessible, low‑cost program that aligns perfectly with the spirit of Path Through History Weekend.

This is a FREE event.
